I don’t wear hats much, but this is one of the few that actually fits me and my style. This is a quality, well made sustainable hat that is well worth the price tag. I wore it for a weekend at the beach and while it never rained, it stood up to minor saltwater splashes and never made me feel sweaty or irritated my skin. It’s so lightweight that I forgot I was wearing it most of the time!

I when I first opened it I didn’t like how flat the brim was, but adjusting it my head gave it just the right curve.

As others have stated, this is not a hat for people with big heads. If your head is over a size 7 with fitted caps I would caution against this one. I took a chance and the fit isn't bad.

However it doesn't repel water, at all. It just sucks it up like any other cotton hat, maybe even more so. When it dried out after the first rainfall it left a permanent stain (like a sweat stain) where the brim meets the hat.

Since others don't seem to have this problem, I'm guessing whatever waterproofing Halley Stevenson wax provides was not applied properly to the hat.

I didn't think to test the waterproofing out when I first received the hat and by the time I was in my first rainfall I was already outside the return window.

so just FYI, test the hat out when you first get it.

if the waterproofing worked as advertised I would have given it 5 stars as it looks great and we need more 100% natural material companies.

This hat is incredibly lightweight and fits perfectly. It’s on the smaller side, which suits me just fine. However, I think they should update the photo for this hat. It appears to be more “Green” in the actual product than in the photo.

I have been trying to be more sustainable and remove plastics and other synthetics from my wardrobe this past year. I was thrilled to come across these hats that check all my boxes; made in US/Canada, plastic free, and waxed organic cotton, so I am very satisfied with the hat.

My only caveat would be that the colors in the photos may be a bit off. I ordered the Olympia DryTek Waxed Ripstop Strapback - Blue, and it appears to be more of a blue/green, maybe sage colored.
